From the first silicone-coated baking trays made in his home garage, to the full-range supply of bakery equipment of today, much has happened during Runex’s 50 years, and much is yet to come. This is cause for celebration! Today marks the start of our jubilation year, which will be loaded with activities. In the spring of 2023, we will welcome you to an open house at our facility in Finspång.
Throughout the years, Runex has developed products that have come to great use for bakers in Scandinavia and beyond. Starting with the silicone-coated baking trays, to the Z-type rack trolleys that are now in as high-demand as ever, up to where Runex stands today: A full-range supplier of essential baking equipment and a leading manufacturer of carts, baking trays, and baking tins with silicone coating in the Scandinavian bakery market.
Runex was founded on August 24, 1972 in Finspång, Sweden, by baker Rune Nilsson. Tired of getting up at 3 a.m. every morning spending countless hours scraping and cleaning baking pans and not happy with the existing products on the market, he started making his own silicone coatings for baking pans, which soon grew into a business. The company expanded and new products were added, always with the customer in focus, and with the knowledge, dedication, and production kept right here in Finspång.
For the past 38 years, Pär Adelman, son of Rune Nilsson, had been the leader of Runex. “Fifty years ago, my father sold his bakery and started Runex at home in his garage. Since then, the company has developed and grown consistently, focusing on offering the best possible products and services to the bakery industry. Most companies never get to experience their 50th birthday and I am grateful to everyone who has contributed in various ways to Runex’s development, and to all customers who have put their trust in us,” states Pär.
In the summer of 2021, Runex was acquired by Bundy Baking Solutions, an American company and the world’s leading provider of essential equipment, bakeware, coatings and services to bakers. In August 2022, James Robinson was appointed the new Operations Manager of Runex AB.
“It was an honor to be asked by my friend, Pär, that I take over his family business. It is imperative that I continue the success of Runex as he has done, and as all my previous endeavors have shown are possible to do,” states James.
This coming spring, Runex is planning an event to welcome customers and colleagues from all over the world to an open house at our facility in Finspång. More details will be announced at a later date. We encourage our customers, colleaugues, and friends in the industry to follow us on social media, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, to stay up-to-date on the latest news from Runex, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary!
